SOTSK Contest Entry - Mist

My entry for Jess's Song of the Summer King contest. The character had to be relevant to the lands of the silver isles and had to be in keeping with the feel and style of the books (basically just nothing outrageous.) Anyway. So here is my entry, Mist. And now, the waffle.

Mist is a Valkyrie in Norse Myth, whose name is believed to represent how smoothly the valkyries could fly across the skies. Wee!
This Mist is a little Mist. She's only a teenager, she's gawky and skinny and gangly. Her wings are small and her tail feathers are not fully developed yet. She would have big ears and eyes to listen for potential predators, as she could not fly for very long and must stay on the ground. She also still has some baby colouring.
She has vivid dreams and thoughts and mistakes these for true clairvoyancy. She made herself jewellery out of salt crystals and lumps of amber because she believes that these will enhance her powers - maybe its her misunderstanding of the king's armour.
As she ages she will gain a more striking colour range, but for now she's still a little drab.
Mist has a teenage crush on Shard, though he has little to do with the chicks, especially once he's assigned duties by the king. She watches him fly and idolizes his great flying skills.

She has nothing to do with the plot of SOTSK. At all. She just watches and imagines and runs out her own little story in her head, probably somewhat oblivious as to what's happening around her. She may or may not be applicable for the constest, Jess, but hey, I hope she makes you smile.

This was going to be a full comic, but I don't have the time to finish it before the contest ends. I'll go back to it.
